Leo and Linda were really nice to us, going an extra mile to accommodate my various food allergies. Giving out tips about the region. Getting everyone together for sake, tea and snacks in the evening and truly making us feel at home!

Leo and Linda… Where do I even start! Fraser and I definitely got lucky with this Airbnb experience. We were well-watered, well-fed and very much taken care of. Linda whips up a mean breakfast! We also got the best locals’ insight into places to eat and drink in the village. Sora Nozawa is perfectly located – a 5 mins walk (uphill that’s why) to the gondola and a mere 3 mins walk to the Main Street. A short walk downhill post a long day of snowboarding is a godsend! The dry room is also excellent for drying out all your ski equipment. Rooms are spacious and immaculate with very comfortable beddings. Thank you Leo and Linda (and all your lovely family and friends we got to meet) for making our stay in Nozawa such a fun one! Hopefully our paths will cross again soon 🙂

Great hosts, great communication. Couldn’t ask for any better

Fantastic stay. We were looked after so well by Leo and Linda, it’s quite rare that you get this “warm family feeling” in other Air B&B accommodations. The location is perfect, up hill for 5 mins to Nagasaka gondola station & down hill for 2 mins to the Main Street with shops and restaurants.

On arrival we where greeted with welcoming hospitality, creating a lovely vibe for the start of our stay. Accommodation is situated close to the slopes and close to centre of town. Clean and tidy with everything needed for a comfortable stay. I would most definitely stay will Leo & Linda again if I get the chance.

Leo and Linda were the best hosts ever. Very welcoming and hospitable, full of great tips for around the town, generous with their time (and ski gear), and just great fun! We’ll definitely come again!

We were made to feel very welcome. A great location and we hope to come back someday.

This is a great location (just 5 min walk from chair lift) in a very authentic Japanese ski town. The town itself is very cute – lots of shops, restaurants, some bars/izayaka/yakitori, and onsen (baths! perfect after a day of skiing). Leo was solo during my stay (Linda had gone to Australia), and he was a great host. Very communicative about transportation, and he met me at the bus to walk to the house. I was able to meet his friends from the local ski shop over dinner – which was a wonderful experience to meet and have fun with Japanese people. Leo had breakfast ready each morning before I headed out to ski and provided suggestions on dining in town and areas to explore. This town is great for anyone who wants a more authentic Japanese ski experience (I’ve heard many of the other resort towns in Japan are extremely Westernized), and the hosts are great people with a clean, comfortable, and conveniently located house!

Wonderful experience & hosts. Leo & Linda go way out of their way to help you. We will be recommending them to all our family & friends. And we will be back.

Leo & Linda were amazing hosts. Immediately felt at home there and ‘part of the family’. Breakfast was excellent, perfect to set you up for a day on the slopes. It’s only a five minute walk from the main bus stop and also the gondola which is awesome. There’s a real homely and communal feel to this place and there a couple of other cool couples staying at the same time which added to an already great stay. Highly recommended and will be coming back! Thanks for all the hospitality Leo and Linda!

Highly recommend staying here for a couple or family group. Fantastic Japanese local village with the best ski field we have ever been to. To top that off Leo and Linda are the best hosts to stay with as they look after you so well and Linda is a great cook. We will be returning.

My husband and I stayed at Sora for 8 nights with our adult daughter and her husband. We each had a twin bedroom with traditional Japanese futon beds on the first floor where there were 2 further bedrooms occupied by 2 other couples. On the first floor there was also a shared toilet which was handy. The 3 self contained bathrooms on the ground floor were kept clean and well stocked and there was never an issue with waiting. Leo and Linda were wonderful hosts and went out of their way to assist our family. They even lent us a ski jacket when the zip on my daughter’s jacket broke. Linda is a great cook and made wonderful breakfasts every day. You could help yourself to tea and coffee at any time. Sora is in a great central location. The main gondola is just a 5 minute walk uphill, and the main street is 5 minutes downhill in the opposite direction. You can leave your ski gear at the ski hire shop near the gondola so you don’t have to carry them each day. There are a variety of eating places nearby and the public onsens are a must after skiing all day. Thank you Linda and Leo for helping to make our time in Nozawa so enjoyable.

We stayed at Sora for 8 nights with our 19 year old son. It was recommended by our son’s friend for the friendly welcome, great breakfast and fantastic location. It didn’t disappoint! Amy, Leo and Linda’s friend, was incredibly lovely looking after our every need and comfort and so helpful in every way. The lodge was 5 minutes from the gondolas uphill and 5 minutes from a great onsen downhill. We were very lucky to be the only guests so we were comfortable to relax in the dining room after dinner and one night streamed a film onto the enormous TV – wifi is excellent!. The dining room is the only communal area so no big sofas to lounge on but it’s peaceful and pleasant; there was a sofa in the bedroom. We also used the kitchen quite a few nights to cook dinner but this may have been allowed only because we were alone so you may need to check this. The lodge is typical Japanese style with tatami mats and shared showers/loos as seen in the pics. I’d considered a bigger more western-style hotel but I’m so happy now that I went for Sora instead. Thank you Amy!

Leo and Linda were great. I was welcomed by them before my Dad arrived to Nozawa which was great. My Dad really enjoyed the space and Amy was staying there as well. She was really helpful and a great person to be around. Sora is a great location, a good choice for Nozawa accommodation. Thanks Leo, Linda, and Amy!

Amazing hospitality – we were made welcome from the first time we met Leo, every breakfast was thoughtfully and creatively created by Linda; right through to giving advice on dining and ski hire. The house is perfectly located between the main shopping street and the bottom of the gondola, and its traditional Japanese amenities are lovely. There is a public onsen only a block away and the hosts are well versed in the local culture. We were concerned about the tatami beds, but plenty of cushioning can be arranged.

Although Leo and Linda were away during our stay, we were looked after amazingly by their friends Kim and Machiko. Machiko cooked us a delicious breakfast every morning and hey were both great to have a chat with and socialize during the night! The place is in an amazing locatio, just a 5min walk to the main gondola (because its all uphill) and still close to everything in the town. Had a great stay and would highly recommend staying here.

Sora Nozawa was the perfect choice for us in Nozawa. Homely but comfortable, and conveniently located 5 minutes by foot from the gondola and a similar distance from town, we couldn’t have asked for a better arrangement. The hosts were super hospitable and made us feel at home right away. Leo filled us in on local customs, recommending restaurants and onsens. The drying room was really useful for keeping all our ski gear warm and ready for the next day. I would highly recommend Sora to anyone looking to stay in Nozawa!

Julie (January 2015)

Leo and Linda are excellent hosts- they are very helpful and accommodating, and Linda makes a delicious breakfast. The lodge is in an excellent location about 3 minutes from the ski lifts- so you won’t have to lug equipment up and down the mountain. The room and bathrooms were warm and clean. I highly recommend staying here- the value and location are unbeatable.
